Meet Nicole Merchán

Counselor-in-Training · Marketing Expert · Founder of Good Ivy
Bilingual: Spanish & English

Good Ivy exists because of a simple truth Nicole discovered through two very different careers: the mental health profession desperately needs better marketing, and most marketing agencies have no idea what it means to be a therapist. Nicole is both. A University of Maryland marketing graduate who built her career at Netflix, HBO, National Geographic, and the Culinary Institute of America and a bilingual counselor-in-training pursuing her Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Capella University, Graduation Date June 2026.

That rare combination is the foundation of everything Good Ivy does. When you work with Nicole, you work with someone who understands your ethical obligations, speaks your clients' language, and knows exactly how to translate the heart of your practice into a brand people trust.

Two worlds. One powerful perspective.

Nicole's path to founding Good Ivy wasn't a straight line — it was two full careers converging into something entirely new. After earning her Bachelor of Science in Communications with a minor in Marketing from the University of Maryland, College Park (Go Terps!), Nicole built a decade-long career working with some of the most recognized media and entertainment brands in the country.

She developed marketing strategies, built brand identities, and told compelling stories at organizations like Netflix, HBO, the National Geographic Channel, and the Culinary Institute of America. She knows what a world-class brand looks and feels like — and more importantly, she knows how to build one from the ground up.

"I spent years helping billion-dollar brands tell their story. Then I realized the people doing the most important work — therapists, counselors, healers — had no one in their corner doing the same for them."

That realization changed everything. Nicole returned to school to pursue her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Capella University, graduating in June 2026. She's currently practicing as a counselor-in-training in San Antonio, Texas — gaining firsthand experience in the exact world her clients live in. Good Ivy was born at the intersection of those two paths: a full-service marketing studio that speaks the language of both business and healing.

What it means to be marketed by someone who gets it

Most marketing agencies can build you a website. Very few understand the ethical guidelines around client testimonials, the cultural sensitivity required in mental health messaging, or the specific language that makes a potential client feel safe enough to reach out. Nicole does, because she lives it. Nicole's academic journey spans two disciplines giving her a foundation that no other marketing professional serving the mental health space can match.
