Design Setup Deposit — Print-Ready File Preparation
Before anything goes to print, your design files need to meet commercial printing standards — and not every file is ready straight out of the box. This deposit covers the initial design setup and file review process for your Good Ivy print order, ensuring your final product looks as sharp, professional, and polished as your practice deserves.
What this deposit covers
The $35 design setup deposit is required for every individual print product in your order that does not have a fully prepared, print-ready file. This means if your order includes multiple products: for example a banner, a business card, and a flyer: you would need to purchase one deposit for each product, for a total of three deposits in that scenario. Each print product has its own file requirements and setup process, so each one is treated separately.
Once your deposit is placed and your files are submitted, our team will review everything and reach out to discuss next steps. Turnaround time and final pricing are determined after your consultation and file review. Because every project is different and complexity varies, the $35 is a starting deposit only — your total design cost may be higher depending on the work required. You will always know your final cost before anything goes to print.
One round of revisions is included with your deposit. Additional revisions beyond that will be quoted separately.
What counts as a print-ready file
To print professionally and correctly, files must meet commercial printing standards. The following file types are generally accepted:
Adobe Illustrator files (.ai)
Encapsulated PostScript files (.eps)
High-resolution PDFs prepared for print (300 DPI or higher, with bleeds and crop marks where applicable)
Canva files — see note below
If your file does not meet these requirements, additional formatting charges will apply and will be communicated to you before any work begins.
A note on Canva files
Canva is a great design tool but Canva files are not automatically print-ready. If you are submitting a Canva design, do not export it yourself — our team will handle the export process to ensure it meets commercial printing standards. Please note that additional charges may apply depending on how the file was built and what adjustments are needed to make it production-ready.
Important things to know before purchasing
This is a non-refundable deposit — it is not refundable regardless of outcome
This deposit does not include your print order — it covers file preparation and design setup only
Final cost of design work is determined after consultation and file review; complexity may result in a higher total than the deposit amount
Print-ready files will not be delivered to the client — files are prepared exclusively for production use by Good Ivy
This deposit must be purchased as an add-on alongside your print product order
Your order will not go to print until your design has been reviewed, approved, and all balances are settled
